The Aeropolis Hotel is located north-west of Moscow's historic downtown, in a district rather short of major sights and attractions. The most striking building in the area is another hotel, the former Petrovsky Travelling Palace, a magnificent neo-gothic built in the 1770s on the order of Catherine the Great in celebration of victory in Russo-Turkish War of 1768-1774. Now the 5-star Petroff Palace Hotel, it is located about five minutes' walk from the Aeropolis on the opposite side of Leningradskiy Prospekt.
On the way to Dinamo Metro Station, visitors will be able to see Dinamo Stadium, home to Moscow's oldest football team, Dinamo FC, traditionally linked with the Soviet police and KGB. For hardcore soccer fans, there is a small museum at the stadium documenting the team's illustrious history.
Another museum within walking distance of the Aeropolis Hotel is the Aviation and Space Exploration History Museum. Home to various materials - some of them rare - chronicling the growth of aviation and space technology in Russia, including 30,000 photographs, the museum is fairly old-fashioned, and again probably only of true interest to dedicated enthusiasts.
