Ulitsa Arbat, which runs between the Boulevard Ring, just west of the Kremlin, and the Garden Ring, is one of Moscow's most famous streets. A fashionable address in the 19th century, in the time of the Khrushchev Thaw it gained a reputation as the centre of Moscow's burgeoning Bohemian community of writers, artists and bards. Today it is mostly pedestrianized, with a permanent array of street performers and souvenir stalls, as well as a large number of bars, cafes and restaurants with outdoor seating. Centrally and uniquely characterful, Arbat is one of the most attractive areas of Moscow for visitors.

This standard hotel on a side street just over five minutes' walk from Ulitsa Arbat is run by the Presidential Administration which means that, while rather formal, service is very efficient and professional. Standards are also high in their own fashion, providing very clean and surprisingly cozy accommodation, all of which has recently been renovated. The Arbat Hotel caters mostly to business travelers, with a good range of support services on offer, but has a great location for sightseeing, too. »»»

Just don't expect too much in the way of creature comforts or personalized service. »»»
