Bega Hotel looked after us very well during our stay, the staff were helpful, the food in the restaurant was really not bad, and the room itself was comfortable and spotlessly clean. However, for older guests it is a little bit of a walk from the metro - after the first day I decided to bite the bullet and take taxis, but that can be expensive and the traffic jams can be a problem. If you're young and fit, however, it's a lovely hotel.

I tried several standard hotels in Moscow, and this could be the finest I've found so far. Particular mention should go to the staff, who couldn't be more helpful and speak fluent English, at least at reception. Is the location good? Not so great for transport, but pretty close to the centre even so, and I loved the fact that I could step out onto my balcony in the morning and watch the horses exercising on the racetrack. One of the few Moscow hotels that's really up to 3-star standards, and not too expensive either.
