Budapest Hotel

Enjoying a great location in the very center of Moscow, just north of the Bolshoi Theater and within comfortable walking distance of Red Square and the Kremlin, the Hotel Budapest is an old-fashioned, homely hotel that more or less conforms to international four-star standards. The excellent location of the hotel keeps prices fairly high, but the Hotel Budapest is still one of the cheaper accommodation options in the Moscow downtown.

Occupying a smart neoclassical mansion that dates back to 1880 and has been a hotel since 1909, the Budapest was opened under its current name in 1956. The hotel has 114 rooms, including a number of suites and, despite a recent programme of renovation and refurbishment, the management has retained the hotel's Soviet take on traditional styling, with old-fashioned furnishings and decor that make for a welcoming and homely atmosphere. All rooms at the hotel are non-smoking.

The Budapest also offers business travelers the uses of three simple, attractive conference spaces, and a small business center with Internet cafe and other essentials. WiFi is available throughout the hotel, although unfortunately this is a paid service. Other amenities, including a reasonable fitness centre, are available for a price at the neighboring Peter 1st Hotel. The Hotel Budapest lacks only an on-site restaurant, although again guests are able to use the Peter 1st Hotel's up-market Romanov Restaurant, where a good buffet breakfast is served for guests at both hotels. The Budapest does have its own cozy lobby bar.
