Opened in 2008, the Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya has won plaudits for its luxurious accommodation, excellent service, and imaginative exploitation of a historic building, despite some reservations about the less than prestigious location, which is nonetheless very convenient for train travelers.

Hilton's first hotel venture in Russia involved the complete renovation of the Leningradskaya Hotel, the smallest of the "Seven Sisters", Stalin's magnificent neo-gothic skyscrapers. A notoriously seedy Soviet hotel was transformed into a genuine 5-star property with all modern amenities that has managed to preserve the elegance of the building's historic public spaces, including the spectacular marble-lined lobby. The hotel offers 273 spacious and extremely well appointed guest rooms, many of them with spectacular views over Moscow's historic center. Also available are six well equipped and stylish meeting spaces, plus the hotel's stunning Grand Ballroom, and a 24-hour fitness center with large swimming pool. In-house dining is at the formal Janus Restaurant, offering traditional Russian haute cuisine.

The Hilton Moscow Leningradksaya is located at the eastern end of Komsomolskaya Ploshchad, the large square on which stand Leningrad, Kazan, and Yaroslavl Railway Stations, each of which is an architectural masterpiece in its own right, and which serve trains from all over Russia and many international destinations. This puts the Hilton a little further from the Kremlin and Red Square than the rest of Moscow's 5-star hotels, and the area around the hotel is not the most prepossessing. Public transport links, however, are excellent, and once guests are inside this spectacular building, the immediate surroundings are unlikely to bother them much.
