No doubt about it, this is a wonderful hotel. You really feel like a part of history staying in one of the 7 Sisters (although I doubt it was this comfortable in the Soviet Union!). Our only reservation was the location. It's great when you come off the train from St. Petersburg to be in your room in five minutes. However, after that it's not really convenient for anything else. Using the metro is one option, but it's pretty crowded in the mornings, and no place for the elderly. Otherwise, you're left to rely on the hotel taxis, which aren't cheap.

I've been travelling to Moscow on business for years now, and was fascinated to see how Hilton would manage with this old Soviet monster. I must admit, I expected a disaster, as the location seemed all wrong for luxury hotel. Fortunately, I was mistaken, and I'm going to make the Leningradskaya my first choice for Moscow from now on. The style is fantastic, uniquely Muscovite but still beautiful. The rooms are supremely comfortable without looking like something in a magazine. Service was great, and once you're inside this amazing hotel, you completely forget about the bustle outside.
