Where can I eat near the hotel?

Historical Hotel Sovietsky

The Historical Hotel Sovietsky's own Yar Restaurant has a reasonably good reputation with tourists, but for a wider choice of good dining options, you will need to head south from the hotel into the area past Belarus Rail Station.

Top-end

Just across the road from the hotel, Parisien (31 Leningradskiy Prospekt, Bldg. 9) is an up-market French restaurant with a beautiful setting in a 19th century pavilion and a summer terrace. China Club (21, Ulitsa Krasina) is a Europeanised and very luxurious Chinese restaurant with a good wine list.

Mid-range

Pilsner (1 1-ya Tverskaya-Yamskaya Ulitsa) is part of a chain of Czech bar-restaurants serving hearty food and beer brewed under license in Russia. Kabanchik (27 Ulitsa Krasina, Bldg. 1) is not the best value Georgian restaurant in Moscow, but offers a good introduction to the rich, spicy food of the Caucasus.

Value

Inexpensive and filling Central Asian cuisine can be found at Barbaris (10 2-ya Tverksaya-Yamskaya Ulitsa). Botanika (61a Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Ulitsa) is a fun and fresh cafe serving inexpensive vegetarian and vegetable-rich dishes.
