All of Moscow's major downtown attractions are easily accessed from the Holiday Inn Lesnaya by metro. Within walking distance of the hotel, Triumfalnaya Ploshchad (under ten minutes) has a few sights of interest, not least the magnificent monument to Vladimir Mayakovsky, the great Modernist poet of the October Revolution, in the center of the square. Beneath the square, the metro station which bears his name (Maykovskaya) is one of the most famous of Moscow's many palatial stations, with a revolutionary Art Deco design and beautiful mosaics on the ceilings. Also on the square is the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, one of Moscow's premier classic music venues and home to the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.
Also about 20 minutes' walk from the hotel on Ulitsa Fadeeva, the Museum of Musical Culture has a superb collection of instruments from throughout the world, including fascinating folk instruments from the indigenous people's of Siberia and the Far East.
Even closer to the hotel, Moscow's Central Hippodrome, which is only ten minutes' walk from the Holiday Inn Lesnaya, may be of interest to some visitors, though more likely for the impressive neo-classical architecture than the actual horse racing.
