The Holiday Inn Moscow Lesnaya is just outside the main tourist area of downtown Moscow. Nonetheless, there are a few sights of interest within a short walk of the hotel. On the side street opposite the hotel, the Zuyev Workers Club is one of a series of workers' clubs or "Culture Palaces" built throughout Russia in the 1920s to provide the proletariat with new and ideologically appropriate ways to spend their down time. It is also among the best-preserved examples of constructivist architecture in Moscow.
Just off Lesnaya Ulitsa, close to Belorusskaya Metro Station, the Church of St. Nicholas at the Tver Gate is in the manner of a traditional Russian church but was in fact only consecrated in 1921. It is mainly of interest as one of the most important churches of the Old Believers sect in Moscow. Belarus Railway Station is itself an impressive architectural monument. Its current guise dates back to 1912 and was designed by Ivan Strukov, combining elements of Russian Revival and Style Moderne architecture.
