The Marriott Tverskaya Hotel is on Tverskaya Street, one of the central arteries running out of the city center. From the 17th century onwards the street became Moscow's main thoroughfare, growing increasingly commercial and was the first street in the city to be lit by lampposts. Today, Tverskaya boasts a plethora of boutiques and salons for Moscow's well-heeled elite as well as a number of notable landmarks. The Marriott is situated just a few minutes’ walk from Mayakovskaya Metro Station, dedicated to the Futurist poet and enthusiastic supporter of the Bolsheviks, Vladimir Mayakovsky. The Marriott is just two metro stops or a 5 to 10 minute drive from the very heart of Moscow and the city's famous Kremlin. Just a 5-minute walk from Red Square and no more than a 20-minute journey from the Marriott Tverskaya Hotel, lies the Bolshoi Theatre, the gem of Moscow's performing arts scene and home to the magnificent Bolshoy Ballet. Whilst in Moscow, whether for business or pleasure, visitors should not miss the opportunity to see a performance by one of the most famous ballet companies in the world.
