It is a 10-15 minute walk from the President Hotel to the main collection of the Tretyakov Gallery (the "Old Tretyakov") on Lavrushinskiy Pereulok. On leaving the hotel, turn left onto Ulitsa Bolshaya Yakimanka and walk straight on until you reach the embankment of the Vodootvodny Canal. Turning right, cross the street and walk along the south side of Kadeshevskaya Naberezhnaya (Embankment) about 200m, taking the third street on the right, which is Lavrushinskiy Pereulok. The distinctive building of the Tretyakov is a further 200m down the street on your right.
It is also worth noting that even closer to the President Hotel (about 200m through the park behind the hotel) is the "New Tretyakov" at 10, Krymsky Val, which houses the the museum's excellent collection of 20th century Russian art, as well as temporary exhibitions.
