Train remains the number one form of transport to cover the vast expanses of the Russian Federation. Whether travelling from Beijing on the Trans-Siberian or taking the new high-speed Sapsan to St. Petersburg, train travelers are often best served by a hotel close to the station they need. With comfortable and rapid Aeroexpress trains now linking all three of Moscow's international airports to the city centre, a station hotel can also be one of the best options for convenient access to the airport.
The three stations located on Komsomolskaya Ploshchad bear the brunt of Moscow's railway traffic, including most Trans-Siberian services and nearly all trains to St. Petersburg. The choice of hotels in the immediate vicinity is not huge, but there are few interesting options to choose from.
This station in the east of Moscow services trains to central Russia, including the high-speed Sapsan to Nizhny Novgorod, and to eastern Ukraine. Unfortunately, the choice of hotels around the station is not extensive.
Located to the north-west of Moscow's downtown, Belarus Station is the terminal for trains to all parts of Belarus and western destinations as far afield as Berlin and Paris. It is also the place to catch the Aeroexpress to Sheremetyevo.
As well as for Kyiv itself, trains depart Kiev Station for a number of Ukrainian cities, for Moldova and for Bulgaria and onwards into Eastern Europe. It is also the terminal for the Aeroexpress connection to Vnukovo Airport.
Trains seviced by Pavelets Station include services to southern Russia, to Kazakhstan and to Azerbaijan. This is also the terminal for the train to/from Domodedovo Airport, the main reason why there are several new hotels in the vicinity.
